Fulwell sits between Roker and Seaburn, with the shops and cafés of Sea Road at its heart. It’s best known for Fulwell Mill, the restored 19th-century windmill on Newcastle Road.
The housing is mostly 1920s and 1930s semis and well-kept terraces, plus some bigger detached homes. It’s a popular choice for families who want to be close to the beach, good local shops and the Metro.
Seaburn Metro station is on the edge of Fulwell, with direct trains to Sunderland city centre and Newcastle. The seafront is about ten minutes’ walk away.
